AA Resources for Military Members and Veterans: Find the Account and the Actual Meeting

A familiar background can make a recovery account easier to approach, but it does not answer every practical question about attending a meeting. Use military-focused resources to find experience you want to hear, then check the actual contact, location and format you need.

Start with AA's named resources

The official military and veterans page links audio accounts and related resources. The Armed Services pamphlet page identifies P-50 and its personal-story focus. Read the description before assuming every resource concerns the same country or service setting.

Choose an account relevant to a question you want to explore. You may recognise an experience without sharing the writer's rank, duties or history. Do not treat an individual's account as a complete description of military policy.

Confirm the meeting you intend to attend

Use a current meeting-information source and ask about the specific location or joining route. If a venue has access restrictions, confirm them with the responsible contact. A meeting reference inside a personal story does not establish that the same arrangement is available today.

If language, time zone or travel matters, write down the actual details for the date of attendance. For remote participation, ask about the meeting's format and current access instructions. Avoid assuming that a location label settles who can enter or how information is shared.

Keep policy and care questions with their sources

A member can share how they sought support without being able to determine your administrative obligations or individual clinical needs. Ask the responsible authorised source about service procedures and a qualified healthcare professional about care. This guide does not interpret military rules or predict a career outcome.

Consider what information is necessary for each inquiry. A request for meeting directions does not require a full personal record. Do not forward another person's account, identification or circumstances merely to explain why you are asking.

Choose the occasion before the keepsake

A military memento, a retirement gift and an AA sobriety token describe different occasions. Our AA chip guide offers background for asking about a group's recognition practice. An AA medallion is not a military decoration or an official service-issued item.

For a personal gift, confirm the sobriety milestone, design and privacy preference. Do not use years of service as a substitute for sober time. A clear card can identify the intended occasion without attaching an institutional endorsement to a retail product.

Medallions to consider

These are optional AA anniversary medallions for confirmed sober time. They are separate from military insignia, decorations, service awards and institutional recognition.

No. Use the appropriate authorised source for those questions.

Can years of military service stand in for years sober on a coin?
