Finding an Al-Anon Literature Distribution Center

Finding an Al-Anon Literature Distribution Center

When somebody asks where to get an Al-Anon pamphlet, a title alone may not be enough. They may need a particular language, format or edition. A Literature Distribution Center can be one local route to official material. Start by making the request specific enough for the service contact to answer.

Identify the publication before ordering

Write down the title and any catalogue code you can verify from an official resource. If the item was mentioned at a meeting, ask whether the speaker meant a pamphlet, a book or a handout from a particular service body. Those descriptions can lead to different publications with similar names.

State the language and format that the reader needs. If someone is selecting material for a group table, ask whether the group wants one copy to review or stock for repeated use. That distinction helps the person handling the order give a practical answer without guessing quantities.

Find the service route for your area

Ask the local Al-Anon information service, group representative or other published contact where literature requests are handled. A nearby meeting may know the route but may not sell or distribute the item itself. Check the actual contact and hours before making a trip.

If the official resource offers an online reading option, check whether it meets the reader's need before arranging a print order. Avoid promising availability, shipping time or cost on behalf of the local center. Ask for the information directly if it matters to the decision.

Keep literature and keepsakes separate

A literature request should describe what you want to read or share. If a separate question concerns participation tokens, the guide to Al-Anon token customs explains why the answer can vary with the group. An order for a pamphlet does not establish any custom about recognising anniversaries.

For a group display, label official resources accurately. If a member brings a privately purchased item, keep that distinction clear. A decorative AA coin is a different kind of item from an Al-Anon publication and should not be presented as part of a literature order.

Make the request easy to complete

Send a short request with the title, item code if confirmed, language, format and quantity. Ask what the next step is and whether there is a current price or pickup arrangement to verify. If an item cannot be supplied, ask the center to point you toward an official alternative.

When the items arrive, check them against the request before distributing them. Record the source of the literature for the next volunteer, along with where to find the current catalogue. That makes the next request less dependent on somebody remembering a product name from a conversation.

Medallions to consider

These optional retail medallions are for a confirmed AA sobriety anniversary. Ask whether the recipient would welcome a keepsake and verify the milestone before choosing a design.
